Alan Robinson: Wisconsin is late to cannabis legalization … let’s make it worth the wait

For years, Wisconsin has watched our neighbors legalize cannabis, establish regulated markets, collect tax revenue, and create economic opportunities while we continued to criminalize conduct that much of the country has already decided should be legal. That may finally be about to change. First, congratulations to Governor-elect David Crowley on his historic victory. Wisconsin has elected its first Black governor, and that achievement deserves to be celebrated. It is an extraordinary moment in our state s history and an opportunity to reconsider what progress should look like for all Wisconsinites. I have had the opportunity to meet with David and discuss cannabis legalization. We talked about access, fairness under the law, economic opportunity, and what equity could and should look like in an industry emerging from decades of prohibition. David has long supported legalization, and I believe his first biennial budget could become the vehicle that finally brings Wisconsin into the mod
